About
Iris Landers (b.1999,Silt) is an artist based in Boulder, Colorado. Working primarily with textile and fiber, she explores memory, consciousness, and the mind-body connection. Examining their profundity, fallibility, and malleability, Landers aims to express the intimacy of one’s own inner world. From her kaleidoscopic quilts and abstract forms representing the body to the use of personal family relics in her work; her sculptural objects evoke the space between and the substance of memories, thoughts, and emotions.
In her practice, undyed cotton muslin, recycled denim and heirloom textiles are transformed into vehicles of nostalgia and prayer, inviting her audience into a playful and earnest encounter. Eliciting a quiet, searching intimacy, these works express the forms and colors of spirit, and the opacity of the structures of consciousness.
